Rujak Cingur

If you are looking for the traditional unique food of East Java, you can try Rujak Cingur. Rujak is the traditional salad from Indonesia. Furthermore, cingur is the muzzle of cow. So, rujak cingur is the mixture of muzzle beef and salad. The ingredients of rujak cingur are tempe, tahu, long beans, yam, young mango, cucumber, lontong, pineapple, and bean sprouts. Then, the ingredients are mixed with the traditional sauce. Other variation of Rujak Cingur is Mantengan. This food is almost the same like Rujak Cingur but without fruits. The taste of Rujak Cingur is sweet, sour, and savory.

Traditional Drink from East Java


If you want to try culinary in East Java, you should try the traditional drink. One of the most popular drink from East Java is Legen. What is Legen? Legen is the sweet beverage from the flower of siwalan tree. The siwalan tree is like the local palm tree in East Java. The taste of Legen beverage is sweet and a little bit sour. The word “legen”, which means sweet really represents the sweet taste. You can find this beverage in Pati, Tuban, Rembang, and also Lamongan.

Wedang Angsle

This is the other traditional beverage from East Java. Actually, the recipe of Wedang Angsle is found in Malang, East Java but you can also find it in other place. This beverage is usually served while it is hot or warm. This beverage is made from the coconut milk, pandan leaf, and vanilla extract.

Many independent and budget travellers typically get to Bromo from Probolinggo as it is the most mentioned and published option in media; and the fact that going to Cemorolawang from Probolinggo will provide visitors with closer look of Mount Bromo. Travellers taking this route generally get on a 1,5-2 hours drive to Cemoro Lawang. Tho visitors must be very aware that Probolinggo route always lead all visitors to scammers . However, you may also visit Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park from Malang city, although your best bet is to sign up for a sharing tour group with all inclusive facilities with jeep ride and services; as public transport is irregular and being in a tour group means you already have everything set up.
